Animal Kingdom has some fantastic counter service restaurants, but only 4 table service restaurants. 2 of these are among our favourites in all of Disney World.
Animal Kingdom Table Service Restaurants
Located in Asia, Yak and Yeti is described as ‘Asian fusion’ – mixing Thai, Japanese, Chinese and Indian dishes and flavours. It is not one that you hear a lot about, but the food is delicious and it is a solid choice.
The Rainforest Cafe is located right at the entrance to the park. It is a branch of a chain restaurant – there is another location in Disney Springs and in London! It is a really fun theme, with Jungle and rainforest decor everywhere, including noisy rain showers and giant animals. However the food is average at best, it is expensive and certainly not unique. We’d give it a miss!
Animal Kingdom Restaurants: Character Dining
Tusker House Restaurant is located in Africa and is a character meal – your chance to meet Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Daisy dressed in their safari gear. This is a buffet restaurant serving primarily African cuisine. It does have some ‘American’ options for the picky eaters and kids – perhaps more so at breakfast than lunch or dinner. Luckily, because it is a buffet, the kids don’t have to stick to their designated food and can sample some of the delicious African inspired offerings. Tusker House is our absolute favourite character meal – fab characters and the food is really tasty. In fact, we enjoy the buffet so much that we recommend it, even if you’re not interested in a character meal.
Animal Kingdom Restaurants: Signature Dining
Tiffins is Animal Kingdom’s Signature restaurant – meaning it is classed as fine dining, with a price tag to match. The cuisine reflects that of the different areas of the park – African, Asian and South American. And it is exceptional – one of our favourite restaurants in all of Disney. You forget you’re in a theme park due to the excellent theming and the food is fabulous. The Wagyu strip loin, pictured below is heaven! We throughly recommend it, if your budget can stretch to it – or use 2 credit per person on the dining plan.
Animal Kingdom has some fantastic dining options – Tusker House and Tiffins being our faves! And if none of those appeal, you could always try one of the restaurants at the nearby Animal Kingdom Lodge hotel – Sanaa is also excellent!
